Michelle graduated with Bachelors of Arts in Biology and Psychology from the University of Colorado - Boulder and a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Iowa. During her nursing education, Michelle became paralyzed from a fall from a tree. Her struggle and persistence through nursing school led her to become an advocate for nurses with disabilities. As an RN, Michelle has worked in the clinical setting as a Certified Diabetes Educator, and as a faculty member for nursing and medical assisting programs. She is currently studying for a PhD in Educational Leadership, Research, and Policy at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs with the goal to improve equity and inclusion within nursing education programs.
Michelle enjoys growing a vegetable garden each year at her home in Colorado Springs with her husband, dog, cat, and chickens. She loves spending time in the mountains whenever possible, and she takes every opportunity to participate in adaptive outdoor activities. Michelle is excited to combine her love for the outdoors with her personal and professional experiences to enhance the lives of women in wheelchairs.
